Books of Semester Days

A semester is a learning continuum moving over 90 instructional days.

What can happen in 90 days? In the aligning research class for this blog, middle school students learn adult strategies to take their retrieval efforts (usually expected in middle school) to scholarly research expected in academic circles. A tall order, but one that 7th and 8th graders routinely perform each semester. Choosing topics of personal interest, students locate information, generate essential questions, and conduct data collection and analysis to prove or disprove existing knowledge before making conclusions.

Ultimately, the research findings are presented to parents, administrators, and school board members at a reception. More and more the research is deep and analytically compelling.

This guide provides a blog each semester as a model of the process. Join us on this journey of days. This semester, this blog looks at Book of Book Days, personal improvement, and the daily progress of moving forward with books

The Chambers' Book of Days is a collection
of miscellaneous information from
biographies to wars, holidays to quotes.
