However, what IS research? The word research is bandied about casually in the educational system. Teachers use the word repeatedly when asking students to learn about a topic, then show proof of the knowledge learned. Finding facts and proving understanding by writing a term paper is retrieval.
On the other hand, research does retrieve information initially but goes beyond the fact-finding step of NEW ground. Research takes the known information and produces NEW information to add to the body of knowledge that exists. It is the difference between reading an old book of days, and breaking ground with a new books of days done as a blog! THAT's a new way of doing a blog, based on how books of days have been done all along.
