Book of Days and Lenten Days

Lent start this week, as does the production of some of the book of days ideas I have. It is worth noting Lent is 40 days in length and is supposed to be a time of reflection, atonement, and self-improvement. Forty days and  these lessons will end up totally 40 when it is said and done. Can they be combined?  Research and a Christian time of reflection?  Monastic illustration would make the pages beautifully interesting. I would have to give up the idea of toilet paper rolls, if only out of respect for the religious season, and go with another recycled item...or not, there are so many papers that could be used to make this book of days. MmMmm....

An art teacher here at the school presented me with an accordion book several years. What if this research book of days can be made into an accordion book? The symbolism of research strategies folding into and onto each other would add to the meaning.

This September 2008 entry into Crafty Nest is the tutorial
for the accordion book.

My question now is What needs to be done to prepare for the 40 days of book making?  Fat Tuesday (the day before Lent begins on Wednesday) is tomorrow. The beginning of the book starts the following day, known as Ash Wednesday when a smudge of soot is applied to Christian foreheads as a reminder that our days on earth are limited and to be mindful of time.
