Moving forward with the idea of the flipping packets in the gourd. There are 7 packets of lessons for students to learn the process of research. The lessons overlap, yet can stand alone...much like the petals of a flower or better! the flaps on a metal steamer. In the image, the steamer is shown in 3 stages of openness: fully open, then coming together to close, and then when the flaps are fully closed. The flaps of packets could fold over each other inside the bowl, then open to the outside of the gourd. Each lesson would be one circle in the packet; each complete packet on its own binder ring. In the image below from The Custom Wedding, paper circles have been linked together by a binder ring. There aren't that many lessons in a research packet, but the idea is the same. In the picture, the paper colors vary from light to dark -- that is a possibility if the variations of paper can be located.
