Day 5: The 6 Levels of Bloom's Taxonomy

Bloom's Taxonomy has 6 levels of learning that directly relate to 6 levels of questions. The taxonomy moves from basic, lower level thinking skills to more complicated, critical thinking higher level thinking skills. Questions are aligned to each level.

Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS)
Remembering -- What is a Book of Days?
Understanding -- What are the parts of a Book of Days?
Applying -- How would I explain a Book of Days to a friend?

Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)
Analyzing -- How do different Book of Days compare to each other?
Evaluating -- Based on moon phases, which Book of Days would be better suited to a farmer?
Creating -- How would I make a Book of Days that applies to PRISMS lessons?

Even though research relies on the higher levels of Bloom's to generate the essential questions and connections between pieces of information, research needs to begin with basic information (the lower levels of basic facts). Without the basic facts, the upper level questions and information will not have the validity needed to be respected by other researchers. It would be like writing a book without prior knowledge.

In this video about books, the author could not have written this parody without knowing and understanding books and technology.

This compares a book to technology.
