The Notebook

It is interesting to note that the highest numbers of search hits on Google Trends for journal, journaling, diary, or book of days is in 2004....the year the film, The Notebook, was released. This romantic drama is about a young couple who fall in love, persist through hardships, and eventually die together. The story is 'read' from a notebook of events that mark the time. The movie audience listens to the narration and with the ending, probably goes out to buy a notebook to document their own lives.

Documenting.

Does documenting events and times makes them more real? For person who has lived through it, probably not, but what about the listener or reader? When reading this blog, does research become more alive? Does the process demonstrate that research is a work in progress?

Research, like any innovation, moves day by day.
