Getting the Text into the Gourd

The text of the book was torn into strips and glued onto the edge of the interior, one layer over another. The goal is to continue until the layers accumulate and form a wall of layers.

As the layers accumulate, the wall on both sides will merge. A quick sanding across all the layers will hopefully leave a smoother surface showing the layers as a flat surface.  A cutout piece of the Twilight cover can be placed at the center as the core.

Layers and layers and layers!

Ultimately, the layers come together for a complete veil over the opening of the gourd.
Running the surface gingerly across a belt sander will smooth the surface
so the two gourd halves can be closed to look like a whole gourd.
